Background

To improve pedestrian access in Arncliffe area the NSW Government constructed a pedestrian link underneath the rail line of Allen Street, Arncliffe. Work required included the drilling and installation of canopy
tubes, construction of portal beam and shotcrete sloped arch and tunnel excavation.

Job Description

Canopy tube construction structures support surface infrastructure such as roads, railways and buildings whilst either a tunnel or box culvert are driven beneath the supports, inn this case a live railway line utilised by both freight and passenger trains. Grouting of the annualise of the steel casings fills inherent voids that are created when drilling of the strata.
